Woolfie, surely you have forgotten or chosen to ignore the fact that the President only "proposes" while Congress actually "disposes" of Financial matters .... :violn:

I watched an interview with Zeke Emanuel several months back and he clearly stated that the US spends way too much on medical care for the elderly with serious health problems. He said the $$ spend vs results was a real waste.

Actually this is medicaid, not medicare. Obamacare offered States money to fund medicaid for the first five years of the plan and at the end of the five years, the States were to transition to their own funding. However, as you know, once a State or individual gets hooked on federal funds, they don't go away easily. This proposal would actually simply revert to the pre-Obamacare state where States funded medicaid. Some states bought into the original scheme and grabbed onto the federal teat. Some states knew that it would cost them dearly in the future and declined. Missouri was one of the states that declined to get hooked on the federal money.

A liberal friend tried to point out that 90% of medicaid recipients are happy with their health care. I asked if being free had anything to do with it and got no answer.

Exactly ! And ever since Missouri wisely (for once) decided " not to get hooked on the Federal money" the whining, freeloading parasites have been complaining wherever they can about Missouri failing to enhance Medicaid for their sole benefit. Nevermind that once the Fed funds disappeared, continuing the freebie would have bankrupted the State

Maybe, just maybe, in a contrarian way of looking at it, the States who did take the Federal giveaway will turn out to be the smart ones if the Federal Medicaid program does get rolled back to pre-Obama levels   :?: :?:
